clinical lab area
2 dedicated Simulation

30 scenarios performed
over the 2 year nursing

Equipment Organization is KEY


Use clear hanging shoe holders for frequently
used items
Find a simple drawer sized container for
medications if you don’t have access to a
medication administration system [craft store]
Set-up prior to session [= 4 scenarios]




Use containers for
each scenario change
out: moulage, IV’s,
equipment . . .
Velcro dots on arm
bands for quick
change and reuse
Use templates for
armbands: Barcode
makers can be found
online
Simple reminder cards
[in pencil] for each
scenario
Clutter up the room

Newspapers, magazines, cards, books,
commode, and a walker to make it
realistic for a student to care for a patient
in a small hospital room.
Phone calls made during scenarios

Use speaker phones in
simulation area and
debriefing room to
capture the SBAR/R calls
made in scenario.
Plan ahead



Develop a rubric to level scenarios
and match up with clinical lab and
theory content: closely match with
new skills performed in clinical lab
Organize the scenarios to make
change out less time consuming.
Put the messy cases last!! For
example hemorrhages
Ask for help
