Medication Administration Records
(MARs) during Admin Rx Downtime
When Admin Rx Downtime is called, Pharmacy will automatically print Computer Generated
MARs for the current patients. This make take as long as 20 -30 mins for the MARs to print. DO
NOT call the satellite and ask them to print the MARs- this is done centrally
In VUH all MAR’s will print on the South Side.
The MAR’s for the Critical Care Tower will print on the appropriate floor
In VCH, all pod’s MARs will print to the orders printer on the B pods..
Reference the EMAR in StarPanel for previous med administration information. Also refer to the
Current Order sheet for med order information until the computer generated MARs are generated.
If a new patient is received after the computer generated MARs are printed by pharmacy, staff
should print Dowtime MAR from EDOCs and hand write the meds on the appropriate MAR.
Downtime Medication Administration Record can also be found in your downtime packets.
The process for documenting med administration on paper MARS is the same regardless if the
MAR was computer generated by pharmacy or an interim MAR printed from EDOCS.
For complete guidelines to documenting medication administration via paper see policy CL30.05.07
