Curriculum
This course focuses on both mastering basic
mathematical skills as well as introducing
concepts necessary for higher levels of
mathematics.
 Throughout the year, students will enhance
their knowledge of graphs, statistics,
number theory, decimals, measurement,
fractions and two-dimensional geometry as
well as examine three-dimensional geometry,
integers, proportion, percent, and
probability.

Technology
We use various technologies in class
throughout the year, including:
Sound system
 Tablet computer and projector
 Portable laptop computers and carts
 School computer lab
 Calculators

Expectations
It is expected that every student will:






Try his or her hardest to reach his or her full
potential in mathematics.
Try to keep a positive attitude and open mind,
and never give up on themselves.
Question why mathematical concepts are the
way they are.
Come to class prepared with a pencil and
notebook. All math work must be completed
in pencil.
Come see me if they have any questions or
concerns about the learning material.
Follow all classroom and school guidelines.
Grading Policy
Tests = 40%
 Quizzes = 30%
 Homework = 20%
 Class Work = 10%


One missed homework assignment =

3 missed homework assignments =

“0” completion grade
After-school detention
Failure to attend or discuss detention with the teacher results in
a Central detention
All consequences for missed assignment
Note or call home to parents
Every missed homework assignments after the 3rd =



Absent Policy

Number of days absent = Number of school
days to make up missing assignments
 It is the students’ responsibility to look over the
notes and learn the material on their own and to
meet with Ms. Berube if they have any difficulty
understanding the material.
 Homework Request forms can only be
requested after two consecutive absences by
the student.
 Homework cannot be requested before a
planned trip or vacation.
Extra Help



Students must arrange a time to meet
with Ms. Berube prior to the session.
Ms. Berube is available on certain,
alternating days in the morning or after
school.
Students are encouraged to email Ms.
Berube with questions concerning
homework or concepts.
Online Resources
Students may access their
textbook and other resources
online at www.classzone.com.
 Please encourage your child
to take advantage of these
resources!

Conferences

Individual conferences will be held on
November 18th, 19th, 22nd, and 23rd.

If you wish to schedule a conference with
myself or any of the other sixth grade
teachers before this date, please feel free
contact any of us and set up a meeting time.

