Retrieving a database file
In this activity, we are going to view and change several records in
the database file ch10_01.mdb.
1. Copy the database file ch10_01.mdb from the Learning CD-ROM
to the hard disk.
2. Start Microsoft Access and open the database file ch10_01.mdb
on the hard disk.

3. Select the table ‘DEPARTING FLIGHTS’ and then click Open to
view the records.
4. Write down the following information of the table ‘DEPARTING
FLIGHTS’.
(a) The number of records in the table ‘DEPARTING FLIGHTS’:
214

(b) The flight numbers of two flights flying to ‘Beijing’:
CA102, CA108 (or any reasonable answers)

5. Select ‘File’  ‘Close’ to close the table ‘DEPARTING FLIGHTS’.
6. Open the table ‘AIRLINE’ and change the data of the field ‘Airline’
as shown below.

7. Save and close the table ‘AIRLINE’.
8. Open the table ‘DEPARTING FLIGHTS’. Is the change of the
name of the airlines in the table ‘AIRLINE’ reflected in this table?
Explain your answer briefly.
No. Both tables are independent to each other.
