New Vision and Mission Statements
• NEW VISION STATEMENT---The USPCE facilitates stakeholder
collaboration to address complex problems facing the pork
industry and society through integrated education and research.
• NEW MISSION STATEMENT--- USPCE works with the pork industry,
post-secondary education, government, and allied industries to
develop education and research programs that are delivered by
our partner organizations to pork producers.
USPCE 3 Year Goals
• Increase target audience utilization of all USPCE programs.
– National Swine Reproduction Guide (NSRG)—By 2016, USPCE will have identified customers
within all major swine genetics companies, swine reproduction service vendors, and within the
top 100 pork production companies in the United States, increasing licensed users each year by
at least 25%. Launching November 1, 2013.
– Swine Science Online (SSO)—By 2016, Swine Science Online will offer a minimum of 12 courses to
at least 400 students from 12 different land grant colleges.
– Professional Swine Managers and Certified Swine Managers (PSM/CSM)—By 2016, the
Professional Swine Managers Training program will reach 100 students annually through 6
community colleges serving the 10 major hog producing states.
– Pork Information Gateway - will continue to be annually updated and maintained serving as the
industry warehouse for the most up-to-date information on pork production knowledge that can
be utilized by educators, students and producers.
USPCE 3 Year Goals
• Launch Three New Learning Initiatives. In cooperation with
university and community college partners, the USPCE will launch
three learning initiatives over the course of the next three years
that help producers such as increasing sow productivity, enhancing
feed efficiency, improving swine health and improving worker
safety .
USPCE 3 Year Goals
• Deliver Effective Communication of Results to all Stakeholders in
the Center. Integrated communication from USPCE to the center’s
investors, collaborators, influencers and customers will create
understanding, engagement and support for USPCE. This
communication plan will be customized to each target audiences
preferred methods of delivery whose success will be measured by
an annual survey that will assess the target’s knowledge of the
programs and activities of USPCE as well as the value derived by
the target from the Center.
USPCE 3 Year Goals
• Provide Direction on Research Priorities for the Pork
Industry. USPCE will facilitate a information and input gathering
process that culminates in an annual meeting that will bring
together Land Grant Universities, Governmental agencies and Pork
Industry leadership that creates and updates a big picture view of
research needs for the industry and promotes collaboration
amongst these stakeholders.
