SYMPTOMS
Cause of swine flu
• H1N1 (sometimes called “swine flu”)
is a new influenza virus causing
illness in people
• h1n1 flu, is caused by the orthomyxovirus
which usually affects pigs but viral mutations
allows the virus to cross species to
other hosts like humans.
TRANSMISSION
• The disease can be transmitted by non
wash of hands
• You can also get from eating pork that was
has the swine flu
• You can also get it if some one with it
sneezes and it falls in your mouth
EPIDEMIOLOGY
Since the first notification of human infection with swine flu in Mexico in late April
2009, there has been rapid global spread of the disease. By the end of May, the
WHO reported that there were 15,510 cases in 53 countries. The number of cases
in the UK rose rapidly after the first confirmed cases in Scotland. By May 31 2009,
there were 252 confirmed cases in the UK. Seventy of these had travelled to Mexico
or the US seven days prior to infection, and 178 reported no overseas travel.
TREATMENT
• The best treatment for influenza infections
in humans is prevention by vaccination.
Work by several laboratories has recently
produced vaccines. The first vaccine
released in early October 2009 was a
nasal spray vaccine. It is approved for use
in healthy individuals ages 2 through 49.
PREVENTION
• This can be prevented by washing hands
aster using the bathroom
• When you sneeze you cover up with a
tissue paper and immediately throw it out
after words
• Or eating pork when it has this influenza
PROGNOSIS FOR THE
FUTURE
• Doctors inform that in the future you can
keep getting the shots which put like
inactivated influenza in your body to help
the hosts cell recognize the bacteria and
not let it settle in your system.
