Using communication symbols
Communication symbols can be used to help people express
themselves, views, opinions and feelings about a wide range of topics.
We used Boardmaker symbols for this activity. Participants were asked
to work in pairs. One person was the Talking partner and had to ask the
questions. The other person could answer them by only moving their
eyes (up/down, left/right) to indicate yes or no.
We used Yes and No symbols at the top of that mat.
The talking partner asks whether their partner likes these activities and puts
the symbol on the corresponding side of the mat.
You can take a photo of the final mat as a record of the conversation. This is
useful to share with other people who might want to know what has been
said......
