WHY DID IT START IN GREAT BRITAIN?
• Agrarian revolution (seed drill, crop rotation, enclosure)
led to more population
• More population means more demand for goods and
services
• Perfect mixture of the factors of production
• Land, labor, human capital, physical capital, financial capital
IMPACTS ON GREAT BRITAIN
• Urbanization
• Transition from cottage system to factory system
• New middle class
• New technology

• The industrial revolution will have spread to Germany and United States
• Germany:
• Now unified, strong
• Got ideas of IR because Otto bought lots of weapons produced by factories for
unification by blood and Iron
• To gain world power, Germany began industrializing too. They had lots of coal.
• United States:
• Also had perfect mix of FOP
• Got ideas of IR because GB was mother country for a long time

• Interchangeable parts: used in assembly lines, faster and less
costly
