American History
The First Americans
• The first people to
occupy the area of
the United States
were the people of
southeast asia.
European Exploration
• Some reasons for
European exploration
is new land to claim in
the new world. Some
of the explorers were
Christopher
Columbus and
Amerigo Vespucci.
European Impact
• It created a war that
was caused over
land.
Colonization
Great Britain, Spain and
France were some of the
European countries that
established major
colonies. Explorers had
been landing in America
for some time before
English settlers arrived in
what is now Jamestown,
Virginia, in 1607
French and Indian
• France, native
Americans, Canada,
and great Britain
fought in the French
and Indian war. it
occurred during 1754
through 1763. great
Britain won the war.
The Path To Independence
• The colonists wanted
independence from
great Britain because
of the high taxes, the
unfairness, and the
laws.
Founding Fathers
• George Washington and
Benjamin Franklin both
played huge roles in the
revolutionary war. George
Washington was the
general of the U.S. army.
Benjamin Franklin was
the person who dealed
with the treaty and also
signed the declaration of
independence.
The American Revolution
• The one advantage
great Britain has over
the colonists was
more ammo and the
colonists had more
soldiers. it occurred
during the years
1775-1783. there was
a famous battle of
Lexington.
After Independence
• The new document is
the U.S. constitution.
• The name of the three
branches legislative
branch, executive
branch, and the
judicial branch.
Growth of America
• President Jefferson
bought the Louisiana
purchase. The native
Americans sold us
this land.

• The united states had
bought the Louisiana
purchase. The
California province
,the Texas
annexation, and
Oregon country. They
bought these places
and also got them
from wars.
Civil War
• Some reasons the
southerners had for
wanting to split the
united states was for
the states to have
more power.
After The Civil War
• Slavery ended after
the civil war. but then
racism blew up. The
blacks and whites
were segregated.
World War I
• What started WWI in
was the war was the
Germans u-boats
blocking trades to
England.
The Great Depression
• The stock market
crashed in the 1920’s.
the unemployment
rate was 90%.
World War II
• The bombing of pearl
harbor. The countries
that fought were
England France and
USA. The atomic
bomb ended the war
with Japan quickly.
The Cold War
• Communism is a system of
social organization in which all
economic and social activity is
controlled by a totalitarian state
dominated by a single and
self-perpetuating political
party. Italy is a communist
country. South Korea, north
Korea and Vietnam.
Vietnam War
• Two reasons why it
was hard was
because it was hard
to tell the allies apart
from the enemies.
September 11th and the war in Afghanistan
•
The September 11 attacks were a series of
four suicide attacks that were committed in
the United States on September 11, 2001,
coordinated to strike the areas of New York
City and Washington, D.C. On that Tuesday
morning, 19 terrorists from the Islamist
militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four
passenger jets. The hijackers intentionally
piloted two of those planes, American
Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight
175, into the Twin Towers of the World Trade
Center complex in New York City; both
towers collapsed within two hours. The
hijackers also intentionally crashed
American Airlines Flight 77 into the
Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and intended
to pilot the fourth hijacked jet, United Airlines
Flight 93, into a target in Washington, D.C.;
however, the plane crashed into a field near
Shanks Ville, Pennsylvania after its
passengers attempted to take control of the
jet from the hijackers. Nearly 3,000 people
died in the attacks
The War in Iraq

Saddam Hussein was the brutal
dictator who the united states
removed as leader of Iraq.
Saddam Hussein treated his
national people terribly. He kept
them poor, uneducated and
unexposed to the global
environment. He would annihilate
anyone he felt like killing, even his
own family members. He was
oppressive and mean. Thousands
of people lost their family
members due to his murderous
streak. Some people were killed
and buried secretly. Many Iraqis
have never known what happened
to their family members

Barack Obama was born to a white American mother, Ann
Dunham, and a black Kenyan father, Barack Obama Sr., who
were both young college students at the University of Hawaii.
When his father left for Harvard, she and Barack stayed
behind, and his father ultimately returned alone to Kenya,
where he worked as a government economist. Barack's
mother remarried an Indonesian oil manager and moved to
Jakarta when Barack was six. He later recounted Indonesia as
simultaneously lush and a harrowing exposure to tropical
poverty. He returned to Hawaii, where he was brought up
largely by his grandparents. The family lived in a small
apartment - his grandfather was a furniture salesman and an
unsuccessful insurance agent and his grandmother worked in
a bank - but Barack managed to get into Punahou School,
Hawaii's top prep academy. His father wrote to him regularly
but, though he traveled around the world on official business
for Kenya, he visited only once, when Barack was ten.
In 2004 Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate as a
Democrat, representing Illinois, and he gained national
attention by giving a rousing and well-received keynote speech
at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. In 2008 he
ran for President, and despite having only four years of
