FACTS:
Albert Bandura was born on December 4, 1925.
Where: Mundare in northern Alberta, Canada.
Albert Bandura is currently living and well in contrast to our other
Theorists.
He was awarded the Distinguished Scientist Award from the
American Psychological Association (APA) in 1972
He was elected president of the APA in 1974.

He was the youngest child and only boy among six children in a
family.
Both of his parents had immigrated to Canada when they were
both adolescents; his father from Krakow, Poland, and his
mother from the Ukraine.
His parents placed a high value on educational attainment,
although neither of them had any formal education.
For example, his father taught himself to read three languages:
Polish, Russian, and German

Albert Bandura’s theory is another attempt to explain human
personality.
Behaviorism on experimental methods, focuses on variables we
can observe, measure, and manipulate, and avoids whatever is
subjective, internal, and unavailable for example mental. In the
experimental method, the standard procedure is to manipulate
one variable, and then measure its effects on another. All this
boils down to a theory of personality that says that ones
environment causes ones behavior.

Social Cognitive Theory, used in psychology,
education, and communication, posits that portions
of an individual's knowledge acquisition can be
directly related to observing others within the context
of social interactions, experiences, and outside
media influences.

Theory
Bandura found everything in agression in children to be a little
bit to simple for his taste so he added something in there in
behaviorism. He suggested that environment causes behavior
and vice versa that behavior makes the enviroment.
Bandura called this reciprocal determinism: and stated that
the world and peoples behavior cause each other.

decided that he wanted to go a step further
and look at peoples personality in three different
ways

He begins to join the ranks of the

Studies
Albert
Bandura is responsible for more than 100
studies but the one that is his most famous and most
known study is the bobo doll study.
In the Bobo-Doll study,everything was filmed so it
started out with you women attacking Bobo Dolls,
hitting it, calling it names and in general trying to
destroy it.
As Bandura new it would happen the children followed
as seen from their mother figure.

Bobo-Doll Study
Process step by step
The woman punched the clown, shouting sockeroo!
She kicked it, sat on it, hit with a little hammer,
shouting various violent phrases.
Bandura showed his film to groups of kindergartners
who, as you might predict, liked it a lot.
They then were let out to play.
In the play room, were several observers with pens
and clipboards in hand, a brand new bobo doll, and a
few little hammers.

Process step by step

bobo doll.
They punched it and shouted sockeroo,
kicked it, sat on it, hit it with the little
hammers.
They copied the mother figure just as in the
video.

Social Learning Theory According from notes on Ormond's Human
Learning
What the social learning theory from notes on Ormond’s Human
Learning suggest is that there is 8 rules and implications on learning
behaviors in class rooms Social learning theory has numerous
implications for classroom use.
1. Students often learn a great deal simply by observing other people.
2. Describing the consequences of behavior can effectively increase the
appropriate behaviors and decrease inappropriate ones. This can
involve discussing with learners about the rewards and
consequences of various behaviors.

3. Modeling provides an alternative to shaping for teaching new
behaviors. Instead of using shaping, which is operant conditioning,
modeling can provide a faster, more efficient means for teaching
new behavior. To promote effective modeling a teacher must make
sure that the four essential conditions exist; attention, retention ,
motor reproduction, and motivation.
4. Teachers and parents must model appropriate behaviors and take
care that they do not model inappropriate behaviors.
5. Teachers should expose students to a variety of other models. This
technique is especially important to break down traditional stereotypes.

6. Students must believe that they are capable of accomplishing school tasks. Thus it is
very important to develop a sense of self-efficacy for students. Teachers can
promote such self-efficacy by having students receive confidence-building
messages, watch others be successful, and experience success on their own.
7. Teachers should help students set realistic expectations for their academic
accomplishments. In general in my class that means making sure that expectations
are not set too low. I want to realistically challenge my students. However,
sometimes the task is beyond a student's ability, example would be the cancer
group.
8. Self-regulation techniques provide an effective method for improving student
behavior.

Awards
In 1972, he received a distinguished achievement award from the American Psychological
Association and a Scientist Award from the California State Psychological Association.
In 1974, Bandura was elected president of the American Psychological Association.
In 1980, he was elected the president of the Western Psychological Association.
He received the Thorndike Award for Distinguished Contributions of Psychology to
Education from the American Psychological Association in 1998.
In 2004, he also received the Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology Award from
the American Psychological Association.
Bandura has also received several honorary degrees from universities all over the
world
