Overview
After the Civil War, the United States was
divided against itself. The states were in bad
need of reconstruction, which is the re-building
of a nation so it can work together. There were
two types of reconstruction, the Congressional
and the Presidential. In the Congressional, it
talked of how African Americans are freed and
have every privilege the whites had even though
they were treated badly. In the Presidential
version, it talks of how the two presidents,
Lincoln and Andrew Johnson had their views on
how the slaves should be treated.
