Outreach HIV/AIDS Education, Prevention, Care and Support
Services
Sam Nujoma Multi-Purpose Centre
Program Goals
The goal of the program is to:
Empower the community by providing quality reproductive
health education and social support programs to mitigate
the impact of HIV and AIDS on the individuals.

Provide access to information, education and support
services in order to improve the quality of life of our
community while making sure that their social well being
comes first on our agenda.
Program Description

A comprehensive outreach program to the
community, schools and workplaces using
a participatory peer education approach to
positively change and improve the
knowledge, attitudes and behavior of our
people with regard to HIV transmission,
prevention and living positively with HIV.
Current Status of the Program

Since the inception of the program,
a number of 25, 733 community
members has been reached with the
outreach education interventions
which included the awareness
sessions, trainings and workshops.
Competitive Analysis
 Strengths
– Sam Nujoma MPC has a newly recruited
Outreach/Training officer who is responsible
for the program implementation.
– We have 12 trained peer educators who are
responsible for taking information to the
community and give appropriate referrals
Weaknesses
– Volunteers turnover
– Lack of incentives for volunteers
– Lack of expertise to carry out various activity
connected to the program
– Lack of transport
What to do to remedy the situation?

Review volunteers incentives
The Centre to collaborate with other
partners for assistance in various
fields.
 Acquire transportation for the
program.

Other programs

Voluntary Counselling
 In partnership with lifeline child line, a
counsellor is now based at the centre and
she providing counselling on Tuesday to
Thursday every week.

Tukwafela support Groups
 A group of people living with HIV/AIDS is
based at the centre with a membership of
51 people. The group has its own
constitution and leadership

Home based Care component
 Basically a new component to
provide care and support for PLWHA.
 20 individuals recently trained by
UNAM to provide the services to the
community

