How to Start
• Demonstration version available.
– Only 5 target systems.
– Out-of-data database that cannot be
updated.
Comments & Problems
• Usual problems with any such software –
systems fail to reboot (reboot to Linux, floppy
in drive…). Systems have to be up to launch
update.
• One system needed re-installing after the
update failed.
– Maybe this would have been the case even if we
had applied the update manually.
Comments & Problems (2)
• Problem with confusion of an update
being for NT or 2000 (possibly error in
Update Expert database).
• Once, after updating database, lost list
of required updates.
Roll out patches to small number of test
systems first….
Conclusions
• Simple to Use & Quick to get going.
• Not free! But much cheaper than many
other methods.
• Does the job it is supposed to do.
