Creating your Own Propaganda
Approach the ideas in 2 possible ways:
Art – Create a visual representation to
express your opinion about one or more of
the big ideas. Remember to think about
propaganda and the different types,
theme, and tone.
Poetry – Create a symbolically decorated
poem to express your opinion about one or
more of the big ideas. Remember to think
about the theme, points of view, and tone.
When presenting
propaganda, you are
counting on the people
who are viewing your work
to not double check your
information. In order to
ensure this, make sure to
include facts in order to
establish your credibility.
The following propaganda
uses this to great effect.
What other persuasive
techniques are used?
Creating your Own Propaganda
What would be your propaganda poster for
your novel’s dystopian society?
What techniques would it use?
What would it try to convince the audience of?
What would it want its society to believe? Why?
From whose point of view will this propaganda
be created?
Tips for Creating Your Posters
1.
Do some research! – The more examples you see and
the more knowledgeable you are about your topic,
the more effective your poster will be.
2.
Know the target audience and the message you
want to send! – When you are certain of what you
want to accomplish, you will have an easier time
planning
3.
Be Passionate about your topic! – The more you care,
the more others will care
4.
Plan in a creative, unique and eye-catching way! –
Make bold choices. Try to stand out and catch the
attention of your audience. Your message won’t be
heard if you cannot reach your audience.
Discussing your Choices
Not only is it important to create a strong example of
propaganda, but it is also important to be able to
explain why you made the choices you did.
You will use the graphic organizer to self assess your
work and to become more knowledgeable about your
choices.
You will need to look specifically at the theme, symbols,
colors, and the slogan and you will explain how/why
your choices create an impactful piece of
propaganda!
