The War Measures Act was introduced by
Prime Minister Robert Borden in 1914
–
This gave the federal government emergency
powers during wartime to do everything
necessary “for the security, defence, peace, order,
and welfare of Canada”

country that is at war with his/her homeland
During World War One, recent immigrants
from Germany and Austria-Hungary were
