people that he conquered
to make them think that
he was one of them and
not an enemy.
Ancient Athens created
the world's first
democracy, where the
people had a say in how
the government was run.
Mesopotamia and Egypt
both had scribes whose
only job was to write down
events that happened
during an emperor's rule.
The geography of
Greece made it very
easy to grow many
grapes and olives.
Most of the people in
Mesopotamia stayed in
close distance to the
rivers.
Most of the territory over

gods who were

world.

so that all people would
know what the rules of
Rome were.

Greeks occupied was very
mountainous, so most
people lived near the
major city-states.

be the son of a god.
The mountains in Greece
isolated the individual citystates, which often lead to
wars.
Even though Ancient
Greece was a democracy,
there were still rich and
poor people, as well as
slaves.
