Megan Cherrell
Co-Director
Megan has 17 years of experience with dancing
and performance, and began her training at the
Sefra Burstin School of Dance in Melbourne. She
studied classical ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary
and National and Demi Character from a young
age, and has continued her training throughout
her life. After many years of hard work and
success in exams and competitions throughout
Victoria, Megan continued her training at a
tertiary
level
at
Melbourne’s
esteemd
performance college, The Dance Factory in
Richmond. Megan has successfully completed
her
ATOD
Junior
Teachers
Qualification
Examinations, and has been teaching classical
ballet, jazz, funk, tap and contemporary for 4
years. Megan is now an experienced professional
performer, having taken part in countless cabaret
performances around Victoria, a variety of
charity performances including the New York
Fundraiser with Daryl Summers, as well as being
part of the original cast for Now That’s Dancing!
Theatre
Restaurant.
Megan
is
currently
undertaking a Bachelor’s degree in Business (Law)
at Monash University whilst pursuing her dream of
a career in the Performing Arts Industry.
Emily Polak
Co-Director
Emily has been dancing for 17 years. She began
her training at the Tony Bartuccio Dance Centre,
and then continued her training with Sefra Burstin
in Melbourne. Emily has studied all Theatrical and
commercial styles of dance, including classical
ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and funk. Throughout
her study of dance and performance she has
successfully completed examinations in classical
ballet, jazz and tap, and has competed in many
dance eisteddfods throughout Victoria. After
completing her VCE, Emily continued her
performance studies at Danceworld 301 Studios
in Melbourne where she studied all styles of
dance as well as singing and drama. During her
time at Danceworld Emily toured interstate
numerous times with the college’s performance
troupe and has performed ineternationally both
professionally and for charity. She was a
cheerleader for the Rugby World Series and
Rugby Super 12s. Emily plans to continue
pursuing her performance career and is also
extremely passionate about teaching others all
she has learned. Emily has taught throughout
both Australia and New Zealand, and hopes to
continue teaching and dancing for many years
to come.
Emma Watson Co-Director /Administrator
Emma began her training at the Sefra Burstin
School of Dance in Melbourne at the age of 4,
where she studied classical ballet, jazz, tap,
contemporary and National and DemiCharacter. She completed exams up to major
standard in classical ballet, jazz and tap, and
has competed in all styles throughout Victoria. In
2000 Emma was accepted into a full-time
Performing Arts course at the highly acclaimed
Danceworld 301 Studios where she continued
her technical, theoretical and performance
training at a tertiary level. Emma is an
experienced performer, having performed at
countless charity performances and professional
cabaret shows throughout Victoria. She is
currently part of the original cast of Now That’s
Dancing! Theatre Restaurant and hopes to
continue performing in the coming years. Emma
has been teaching all Musical Theatre styles for
5 years, and is currently completing the final
year of her Bachelor of Education (Prep-Year12)
course.
Naomi Marsh Guest Teacher
Naomi Marsh grew up doing both gymnastics
and dance, and now combines both of these
skill bases as a performer. Naomi’s
performance credits are extensive, and she
has worked both on the stage and on
television. She has appeared in numerous
professional musicals such as Sweet Charity,
Crazy For You, Funny Girl and Mack & Mabel
and has performed at The Good Friday
Appeal Charity Gala and on TV shows such as
In Melbourne Tonight and Full Frontal. Naomi
has also backed bands such as Earth Wind &
Fire and Islanda. Naomi also has cheerleading
experience, and is a fully qualified
cheerleading instructor.
Chris Bakis
Guest Teacher

Adrian & Mary Fryer Guest Teachers
Husband and wife team, Adrian and Mary
Fryer, both graduated from the Australian
Ballet School, and have since gone on to
dance as soloists in many professional ballet
companies around the world, including The
Australian
Ballet,
Bayerische
Staatsoper
Munich, Kiel Stadttheater (Germany), Vienna
Staatsoper and Klagenfurt Staadttheatre
(Austria). They have taught all levels for many
years both nationally and internationally, with
secondary and tertiary institutions and
professional ballet and opera companies. This
has lead to other aspects of the dance
profession such as choreography, dance and
performance
production,
adjudication,
emxamining as well as one-on-one coaching.
Adrian and Mary now run their own dance
centre in Melbourne, and still enjoy dancing
and teaching.
Liam McIlwain
Guest Teacher
Originally from Queensland, Liam began
performing at a young age. He has studied
musical
theatre
at
the
Central
QLD
Conservatorium of Music and has also
completed tertiary level study of performance, a
Diploma of Arts (Performance) at Melbourne's
Dance Factory on full scholarship. Liam has had
an extensive performance career. Performance
Credits include Bye Bye Birdie (The Production
Company), Saturday Night (Magnormos) as well
as working regularly as a dancer/singer in
Melbourne and around the country for various
corporate functions and events. In 2005 Liam
move to Sydney to begin rehearsals for his tour of
Australia as part of the cast of Grease - The
Arena Spectacular. Liam is also a passionate
teacher, and looks forward to continuing
teaching after his tour of Grease - The Arena
Spectacular.
Jenny Patrone Guest Teacher
Jenny grew up in Carlisle, England, where she
began dancing from the young age of three at her
local dance school. Being a part of the cities
numerous productions as a singer, dancer, actor
and choreographer, Jenny also had the privilege of
studying in London at the Doreen Bird College one
of the most prestigious colleges for Performing Arts
in London. Since moving to Australia in 2000, Jenny
continued her training at Dance World 301 and is
now establishing herself as a performer and teacher
in dance and musical theatre. Jenny is a qualified
gym instructor, and is currently studying to be a
Personal Trainer. Credits include being a featured
dancer in Neil Young's 'Greendale' tour at the Myer
Music Bowl, with famed Russ Tamblyn. Dancing in
Flamenco Rocks with Chari Saldanez and Johnny
Tedesco, and corporate events for Tattersalls, the
Wallabies Sponsors, and various other events. Jenny
is currently a part of the 'Wiggles' cast as a host for
their various shows.
