Literary Elements of Aladdin
Suspense:
Will Jafar steal the lamp and take over the world?
Will Jasmine and Aladdin fall in love?
Will Genie ever be set free?
Will Aladdin survive?
Theme: Greed/Selflessness; Telling the truth/Be yourself; Imprisoned/Set free
Setting: Agrabah; Middle East; Before technology
Language/Point of View: Simple words because it is a kids movie; Aladdin’s point of
view– lead character (we see the story through the good guy’s eye)
Monologue/Dialogue: Many times Aladdin talks to himself to think things through;
Funny dialogue between Aladdin and Genie
Empathy: We all have wanted to be someone we are not before; We have all been
greedy before; We know that Aladdin is a good person deep down and although he is
lying to Jasmine, we want her to fall in love with him anyways because we know he is
good; We all have thought about what our 3 wishes would be
