Bss spotlight

Intro
Bss spotlight is now the midlands leading performing arts school of excellence
for young people aged 15-17 years. They are permanently based at Europe’s
premier theatre, the Birmingham Hippodrome. They offer interactive workshops
based training in a fun and creative modern perspective. Just the past 6 months
the cast members have…
Performed for bbc television in the new “afternoon plays” series
In the uk tour of the hit musical “seven brides for seven brothers”
Created their own short film season
Provided corporate entertainment for the national LACA conference at the nec
metropole hotel
Produced our own “bss spotlight talent show case at the Alexandra theatre
Some info about them
They have a different way of doing things all together because instead of
having teachers who perform the y have performers who teach sot hey realll
know what they are doing. Workshops are held on Saturdays at the
Birmingham hippodrome using many of their exiting venues including the
innovative Patrick centre studio.
For young people ages 5-10 years old, the KIDS CREW offers an
“introduction” into Bss spotlight and the performing arts world their individual
workshop sessions include movement, music and acting training.
11-17 years old are are in age groups in which they have a tutor and they
work on projects either in heir own group our as a whole cast. They are
proud to utilise the latest technology and have their own digital TV camera
facilities and regularly produce our own programs. Cast members get a
report every year so they can see how they are doing and how they can
improve. At the end of each year there is also a presentation in which one
person from each group gets and award for improving or working the hard
etc.
Who works there
Brian foster, a vastly experienced theatrical accountant and producer
together with his family provide the administration and general
management of the company.
Ian sandy, operations director, is a respected actor and producer with
many credits in radio, television, theatre and light entertainment. For the
past 16 years he has been involved with pantomime productions at the
hippodrome and together with Brian foster as directors of the production
office UK limited, they have produced many major productions, most
recently the hit Birmingham musical “go and play up your own end”
starring jasper carrott.
