Classroom News…
•Next week we will be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King. We
will read about his life and identify important events that occurred
as a young boy, and as an adult. We will also make connections
to Martin Luther King by identifying his character traits and
thinking of times that we exhibited those same traits, or connect
those traits to other famous leaders.
•Reminder – No School : Friday, January 17 and Monday,
January 20th.
Literacy
Math
•In Reader’s Workshop, your
child will practice “close”
reading to help with words
that have tricky meanings.
We will also review tricky
word strategies by looking
for word prefixes, suffixes,
word endings, and
compound words.
•In writing your child will
learn how to use line breaks
when writing poetry.
•The Chapter 5 Math Test will be
on Monday, January 13th.
Please work on writing numbers
in expanded form, place value,
writing number words, and
counting patterns .
•Chapter 6 will bring adding
three digit numbers! Please
continue to work on addition
math facts to help your child
move through problems with
ease.
