(modern France) and instituted Latin as the
major language. Latin mixed with Gaulish
and later became known as French.
In 1066 William the Conqueror, the Duke
of Normandy, invaded and conquered
England. With him, he brought the French
language.
English adopted many French words.
These French words came from Latin and
therefore share the same roots as Spanish.
