• Definition:
– a ‘part’ that is added to words, either at the
beginning or at the end of the word, that
changes/affects the meaning of the word
• Types of Affixes:
– prefix = added to beginning of word
– EX: im + possible impossible = not possible
– suffix = added to ending of word
– EX: pass + ed passed = to have already gone past
someone/something
