Welcome to the Union Pines High School Class Registration System for 2016-2017
Grade 9 Registration
In Power School, go to https://ncmcs.powerschool.com/public/ enter your username and your password. Click on Class
Registration. Use the edit button (pencil) to select a course, click ‘Okay’. When you have finished selecting all your courses,
select SUBMIT at the bottom of the page. You can come back to make changes before your counselor’s due date.
GRADE 9 HEALTH/PE
Health and Physical
Education Grades 9
All Grade 9 students are required take Health/PE as a NC HS Graduation
Requirement.
GRADE 9 Career Mgmt OR Project Mgmt I
All Grade 9 students are required to take Career Management or Project
Management I. Career Mgmt prepares students to locate, secure, keep, and
change careers. In Project Mgmt I, students will create 6 project-based
learning activities. Both courses include career education and career
exploration in all the career technical education pathways offered at UPHS,
except PM1 does NOT include exploration in the Health Science pathway.
Either course is a prerequisite for students interested in attending the
Advanced Career Center, the new high school.
GRADE 9 MATH
Select 1 Math Course. Choose Math 1 unless you completed this course in
middle school.

GRADE 9 SCIENCE
Select 1 Science Course.
GRADE 9 SOCIAL STUDIES
Select 1 Social Studies Course.
GRADE 9 ELECTIVES
Select 2 Electives. (use the alpha lists below to select electives)
GRADE 9 ALTERNATES
Select 2 Alternate Elective Courses. These courses will be used if your
elective choices cannot be honored.

Honors courses are more rigorous offerings of content than a standard course.
Emphasis will be placed on greater depth of the concepts in order to increase
critical thinking skills. In addition, Honors will include:
•More out of class reading
•In-depth writing assignments
•Additional independent projects
•Greater number of essay/short answer test questions
