Indiana’s Education Pipeline
Postsecondary Preparation
• A quarter of all recent Indiana high school
graduates need remediation when they
enter a public college.
• More than two-thirds of Indiana’s
community college students require
remediation.
• Less than 10 percent of Hoosier college
students who are placed in remedial
courses graduate on time.
The Importance of Academic Rigor
• A rigorous high school academic curriculum is the singlemost significant factor determining a student’s success in
college
• Rigorous academic preparation now wanted by employers,
colleges, apprenticeship programs, and the military
• Careers for students without rigorous preparation are
becoming fewer
• Students taking remediation in college are at a greater risk
of dropping out
• The more education a student receives after high school,
the better chance for increasing earnings and job security

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT FLOWCHART
Students, parents, teachers, and counselors should consider several aspects of a student’s profile when considering what path
to follow as he/she continues through high school. The student’s academic ability and interest, the student’s future
educational goals and aspirations, the student’s career plans are all factors that should guide the student’s decisions.

For determining if a student should go to chemistry after biology the math grade is more important than the science grade; math is also the key in choosing bet physics R, CP and H
If a student fails a CP course they should retake it as regular
Physical/Life science(aka Science fundamentals) is NOT a core 40 course and will not count as one of the three courses required for core40 diplom
