• Read and comprehend a variety of text
• Write clearly and accurately
• Apply mathematics in a variety of settings
• Students will have multiple options and opportunities to
demonstrate their proficiency in the Essential Skills by:
• Achieving a state determined score on the state assessment tests
(OAKS) in reading, writing and mathematics
• Achieving a state determined score on another standardized test
(SAT, ACT, etc.)
• Completing an approved locally scored assessment such as a
work sample or student project
• Students will begin state testing in the 10th or 11th grade

Online Forecasting
• The counselors visited Wood Middle School and
Athey Creek Middle School to explain the online
forecasting process
• Athey: Tuesday, April 6
• Wood: Wednesday and Thursday, April 7 and 8
• Students must complete the forecasting process
by Friday, April 16

• Each time a change is made, an email will be
sent to the student’s email, the parent’s email
and to the school for counselors to review
• In late August, students will receive a copy of
their schedule and there will be a designated day
to make changes with their high school
counselor, if necessary
• School photos will be taken on the 9th grade
scheduling day, prior to the start of school
Summer School
• WHS will host Summer School
• Summer School begins on Monday, June 28th
and ends on Tuesday, July 27th
• Freshmen can register for Wellness I
