HOPE SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
• Hope scholarship calculates their own GPAs using academic
classes and foreign language classes mainly but Hope
changes how they calculate GPA every year so you can’t
predict what it will be. Tell students to do their best and
especially focus on academic classes and language classes.
• Hope GPA will be lower because it does not calculate all
your classes.
• Hope requires 4 “Rigor” classes: i.e.
Advanced math, such as Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry, Math III, or an
equivalent or higher course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level
credit at an eligible postsecondary institution;
Advanced science, such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology II, or an equivalent or higher
course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible
postsecondary institution;
Advanced placement (AP) courses in core subjects;
International baccalaureate (IB) courses in core subjects;
Courses taken at a unit of the University System of Georgia in core subjects where
such courses are not remedial and developmental courses; or
Advanced foreign language courses taken at an eligible high school or taken for
degree level credit at an eligible postsecondary institution.
