WHERE DO THE CREDITS
COME FROM?
 Every class you pass is worth 5 credits.
 You take 6 classes each semester.
 If you pass all of your classes for the entire
year, you will have 60 credits.
 If you pass all of your classes for all 4
years, you will have 240 credits.
 If you begin your senior year with 180
credits, you only need to take 5 classes each
semester instead of 6.

WORK EXPERIENCE
PROGRAM
 Students in 11th or 12th grade who have a part-time job can sign up to





be in the work experience class.
Students must work at least 2-3 days a week and maintain a minimum
of 12-15 hours a week to earn 5 credits, and 17-20 hours a week to
earn 10 credits.
Students must attend a one hour class per week and meet with the
career advisor.
Career advisor will make visits to all job sites.
Work permits may be obtained in the Career Center. Students must be
14 years old to apply for the permit.
Students looking for a part-time job will find opportunities at the job
window. New job offers arrive daily.
PROFICIENCY
REQUIREMENT
Students must pass the California
High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).
You must pass both the English and
the Math sections of the test.
You will take it for the first time in the
10th grade. If you pass it then, you
will not have to take it again.
PORTFOLIO/COMMUNITY SERVICE
REQUIREMENTS
 The Career Center serves as the “HUB” for the Chatsworth
Portfolio requirement for all students. This program is
facilitated in homeroom beginning with all 9th grade
students. The portfolio is a compilation of student
documents which is representative of the person’s skills,
abilities, and accomplishments.
 The Career Advisor serves as a resource to maintain
community service activities and publicizes opportunities
for students to meet this twenty hour graduation
requirement.
 All seniors are required to have completed the portfolio
and community service to participate in the graduation
ceremony.
