The Neck-top PC
One million GB neck-top PC
• Brain is like a super computer but
without an instruction manual
– The brain is made of billions of neurons
– The efficiency of the brain is not in its size
but on the number of connections that
the neurons make
– Brain is not naturally hard wired; it can be
evolved

One million GB neck-top PC
• Our brain is structured to absorb and
engage novel information
– When we stop learning, we are left only
with living in routine
• We need to upgrade our brain
• When we stop learning, it becomes hardwired,
riddled with automatic programs.

Self Talk –
Definition and Implications
Self Talk
• Every single message you got is
recorded and stored
• We tend to repeat the recorded
messages again and again
• When repeated, it creates bigger
pathways…
Self Talk - Types
• General
• Positive
• Negative
General
Positive - Constructive
Negative - Destructive
Rules of Mind
1) What is imagined or expected tends to be
realized.
2) Every thought or idea produces a physical
response
3) Law of reversed effect
4) New habit patterns can be formed with
visual images
Rules of Mind
5) Habit patterns can be formed with auto
suggestions
6) Attitudes and habits are best learned or
changed without effort
7) Once habit pattern has been established, it
tend to remain until replaced with a new
pattern of behavior
8) Habit pattern can be formed without
repetition
Self Talk - Implications

5)
To heal our selves
To change attitude / behavior
Self motivation
To push your limits (athletes)
To have positive relationship with others
How to use/control Self Talk
1) Positive – Use affirmations daily. Talk to yourself
very positively. Have ready made statements. Use
‘law of repetition’
2) Negative - Rubber-Band Snap: A trick is to walk
around with a rubber band around your wrist; as you
notice negative self-talk, pull the band away from your
skin and let it snap back. It’ll hurt a little, and serve as a
slightly negative consequence that will both make you
more aware of your thoughts, and help to stop them!
3) General – Practice silence

Leadership Takeaway
How can ‘self-talk’ help Leaders?
1) Self – leadership;
•
•
•
Can have control of self and can motivate self
and push the limits.
Can decide when to release an emotion
Can empathize with ‘followers’
2) Shoot positive statements to others so that
others start ‘positive self-talking’ or
affirming.
How can ‘self-talk’ help Leaders?
3. Use ‘Law of Repetition’ in speeches
•
•
‘I have a dream’ by Martin Luther King Jr.
‘Yes We Can’ by Barrack Obama
4. Realize that your comment creates a series
of ‘self-talk’ in the minds of others; use
words like money
