“The Axis Powers”
 The Rome-Berlin Axis was the relationship between




Mussolini and Hitler.
Mussolini didn’t identify what anti-Jewish racism but
as Germany grew stronger Italy issued anti-Jewish
decrees
They were against communism and democracies
specifically Soviet Union and France
October 1936 Italy and Germany announced their
agreement to support their “parallel interests”
Germany made a similar agreement with Japan and all
three countries became known as the Axis Powers.
 The three major Axis Powers were Germany, Italy, and Japan.
 In May 1939 the relationship between Hitler and Mussolini
transformed into an alliance which Mussolini called it “the pact
of steel”
 In September of 1940 they singed the Tripartite Pact which
officially founded the Axis Powers.
 Hungry, Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria joined the pact in
November 1940 and March 1941.
 Germany became the unofficial leader of the Axis Powers
because Germany had the most technologically-advanced armed
forces.
 On September 8 1943 Italy was the first Axis partner to




give up to the Allies.
Romanian troops fought along side the soviets ,
Bulgaria surrendered as a communist-led fatherland
front and then declared war on Nazi Germany.
Germany occupied Slovenia and Austria the last days
of April 1945
On May 7 1945 Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allies
Japan fought alone until September 2 1945 when they
surrendered.
