Marketing Project
Project Description:
Sports marketing can be defined as the act of using sports as a platform to market
products or services and increase sales or the process the of marketing and selling the
sports property itself.
Entertainment marketing is the process of developing, promoting, and distributing
products, or goods and services, to satisfy customer’s needs and wants through
entertainment, or any diversion, amusement, or method of occupying time.
For this project, you are responsible for finding five examples of sports and entertainment
marketing that you might encounter in your every day life and creating a presentation to
share them with the class.
Project Details
You must find FIVE (5) examples of sports and entertainment marketing that you might
encounter in your every day life. It could be a pop can featuring a Super Bowl promotion or
a bag of M&Ms featuring the newest blockbuster movie to hit the theaters. It could be a
magazine advertisement with your favorite athlete drinking a sports beverage or an ad in the
newspaper promoting the latest and greatest Broadway musical that is coming to town.
However, each example you find MUST provide a different form of marketing. In other
words, you cannot simply bring in five magazine articles. The goal is to be creative with this
project. Don’t take the easy way out and bring in the first five items you see.
For each of your five examples, you will need to explain how and why they provide an
example of sports and entertainment marketing. Discuss whether they illustrate the concept
of marketing through sports and entertainment or provide an example of the marketing of
sports and entertainment.
You may use any form of presentation except PowerPoint (can use Google Slides). Use the
examples below to help get you started.
Presentation
Show the five examples you found to the class. Explain why each is
an example of sports and entertainment marketing and whether they
are examples of marketing through sports and entertainment or the
marketing of sports and entertainment.

station provides an example of marketing through
sports. The brand uses LeBron James’ likeness to
promote the product.
This label from a bottle of Aquafina brand water is
an example of marketing through sports and
entertainment. Aquafina is the “official water” of
Major League Baseball.
