• Research has shown that an increase in
email sends =
o Decrease in open rates
o Decrease in click through rates
o Increase in unsubscribe rates

Taking care of our audience
• Starting September 1
o Send (at most) 2 emails per month
per chapter
o Initiate email calendar
o Work with ASC’s to create an email

Create fewer, more effective emails
• Increase your open and click through
rates
• Instead of email, consider using other
marketing methods
o Facebook
o Twitter
o Flickr
o Good ole’ mail or personal contacts

Email calendar
• All chapters will have a scheduled send
week.
• The actual send date will be determined
when you request a new email.

How to request a new email
1. Email [email protected] to request an
email.
2. Your ASC (Alumni Services Coordinator) will
remind you of your designated send week and
help determine which day will be best to send.
3. Your ASC will assist you in collecting all the
content and images needed to your email.
4. Marketing will create, code, and send your
email.

Email evaluation
• We will be evaluating the new process
mid-February.
o How are we doing?
o Email stats (opens, clicks, unsubs…)
for each chapter.

1. Email calendar updates to
[email protected].
2. ASC makes updates directly to calendar
3. Calendar entries appear on your chapter
website automatically.
*If a registration form is needed, that will be
your calendar entry. ASC will request form for
you. Request the form by emailing
[email protected].

Calendar item checklist
• Best to include all updates in one
request.
• Be sure to include:

Event name
Date, time
Location (with address)
Contact person
Details about the event. At least one sentence of
description, preferably more.
