What is the Leopold Center?
• Established by the Iowa legislature as part of the
1987 Iowa Groundwater Protection Act
• Named for Aldo Leopold, an Iowa-born
conservationist, ecologist and educator
• Created to identify and reduce negative
environmental impacts of farming and develop
new ways to farm profitably while conserving
natural resources
