Managing Marketing and Distribution Spend
Media
• Along with UM, reviewing several options for the management of our North American
Media spend. This is expected to generate roughly $25M in savings and other added
value, such as marketing integrations, third party promotions and global media deals
(e.g. Google).
Further changes in the current scope of media planning and placement will lead to
reduced agency compensation of $3M to $4M as well.

Digital Marketing
• Recent changes in Sony Pictures’ digital strategy has resulted in a reduced utilization
of Sony Pictures Interactive due to shifting much of this effort to SPE’s internal IT
Group. The result is over $11 million in annual savings, with our spend dropping from
a high of $14M in FY2013, to under $10M in FY2014, to $3M for FY2015.
Basics
• Additional Basics initiatives are currently underway, and are expected to help us
manage our Basics budgets and eliminate basics overages:
– Launched in-house creative agency (Torch Creative) to reduce spend with outside firms
– Negotiating and executing formal agreements with our creative advertising agencies
– Establishing formal agreements with our major Publicity vendors to generate savings in
regional publicity agencies, screenings, ticket printing, grooming, promotional items,
junket/event planning management and junket/special event hotels
– Negotiating and executing formal agreements with our preferred digital marketing firms
