• FiberCo is an LLC of Internet2 that was initially
created in partnership with Level 3
Communications to put dark fiber resources in
the hands of our member community
• FiberCo was successful in placing over 13,000
route miles of dark fiber
• FiberCo has expanded its services to a suite of
services designed to assist R&E optical
network operators build and maintain their
networks

• As the community has taken the step towards building
and operating its own optical networks, the expertise
required and complexity of deployment and operations
have increased.
• Some members may not have the available resources
to accomplish their goals in the desired timeframes
• FiberCo in cooperation with corporate members now
offers a number of professional services to assist
members with the unique challenges of deploying and
operating optical networks
