Transcript Slide 1
FENCE = CELL MEMBRANE
Gives the cell support and
protects it from its outside
environment.
FRONT GATE = MEMBRANE CHANNEL
Cell wall contains openings that
let food go in and waste goes out
through its pores.
Facades = Cytoskeleton
“Scaffolding” which contains the
cytoplasm. Important in moving
and cell division.
Paths = Cytoplasm
“Goo” in area other than Nucleus
OFFICE = NUCLEUS
Monitors internal and external
conditions by turning on and off
different genetic programs
Park Blueprints = Chromosomes
Contain the genetic information
that is passed from one
generation of cells to the next.
Paper Blueprints are on = Chromatin
Consists of DNA bound to protein.
When a cell divides, it condenses
to form chromosomes.
Ad Office = Nucleolus
RNA = Advertising
Is where ribosomes synthesis
starts and contains high levels of
RNA.
CARS IN PARKING LOT = RIBOSOMES
Translates the genetic message in
RNA into the production of
protein. (It is the site of protein
synthesis.)
Boat Ride = Endoplasmic Reticulum
People = Protein
Helps with protein synthesis and
transport
Family Time = Golgi
Contains enzymes that modify,
sort, and package
macromolecules to transport to
other parts of the cell and
especially for secretion
Janitors = Lysosome
They digest, and breakdown
lipids, carbohydrates, and
proteins into small molecules that
can be used by the rest of the
cell.
Trash truck = Vesicle
Store, transport, or digest celluar
products and waste
Back Pathways = Vacuole
Stores materials such as water,
salts, proteins, and
carbohydrates. – Sac-like
structure
Generators = Mitochondria
Provides energy for cells to move,
divide, produce secret products,
and contract.
ATP energy source.
