Everything and everyone
Meet Mary Jackson and her family
Climate change is making life harder for Mary
• In Malawi, where Mary
lives, it’s becoming harder
to predict when rain will
come and how much will
fall
• Many women like Mary
rely on the rain to grow
food for their children
• When the rain comes, it’s
often too little too late
For the love of our brothers and sisters…
• The Scottish
Government
needs to act on
climate change
• …and so do we
“A way has to be
found to enable
everyone to benefit
from the fruits of
the earth”
Pope Francis
• We need to think about
how our lifestyles drive
climate change
• The average person in
the UK is responsible
for 79 times the
amount of CO2 as
someone in Malawi
Together, we can tackle climate change
• Walk more,
drive less
• Cycle or use
public transport
• Share journeys
with friends and
family
If everyone in Scotland drove just 5 miles less
every week over the course of a year, that
would be the equivalent of taking 70,000 cars
off the road for a year.
Discussion
questions
• Why do we need to do
something about climate
change?
• Are there things in your life
that you could do to cut
your carbon footprint?
• Are there any journeys that
you and your family take
by car that you could
replace with walking or
public transport?
• What could you do as a
school?
