Sustainability of the initiative
As the project is currently being implemented, sustainability strategy and
workable models are being developed, by:
 Providing community ownership through decision making and supporting
implementation and community led O&M
 Creating inclusive institutional structures which offer space to all major
stakeholders
 Replication of pilots through alternative funding sources
 Creating planning toolkits like local adaptation and mitigation guides
(LAMGs) as living documents

Lessons learnt on making community-based adaptation work
 Local capacity is essential for responding to climatic shocks
 Direct and visible benefits accrued by CCA pilots keeps community motivated
 Relationship of trust between community, leadership and implementing
partners is crucial for implementation
