 examples:

 at risk to be won or lost
 examples:
 We have a lot at stake in this business transaction.
 I need the Lakers to win the NBA Championships because I
wagered on the game. I have $1,000 at stake!

 a phrase that means “to rise to a high level”
 examples:
 Some people say that global warming has caused


 examples:



 examples:

 examples:

Group Work – Write a Dialogue
 In groups of 3 people:

Choose one of the statements below.
Write a dialogue/play related to or discussing the statement.
Use at least 6 of the new vocabulary phrases from pages 52 & 58.
Some groups will speak in front of the class.
1. Sustainable development is less important than issues like poverty
and terrorism.
2. Dumping trash from the cities in the countryside is a reasonable
solution.
3. Developed countries like the US and in Europe should do more than
other countries to solve the world’s environmental problems.
4. The biggest problem in Beijing is the pollution.
