Warm Up: Day One
• In your sketch / notebook, write “Wonderland
Design” at the top of the page.
• Draw a horizontal line in the middle of the page.
• Draw a vertical line down the middle of the top box.
• Example:

• Write the following statements:

• For the next couple of days, we will look at
quotes from Alice in Wonderland and related
novels.
• You will become the illustrator!
• Use your skills to design and illustrate a
scene!
• You may use the Chromebook to look up
quotes, but we are not listening to music or
playing games.
Today’s Goal
• Choose a scene to illustrate.
• In your notebook, copy the quote you
want to reference.
• Underneath, draw a few small, sloppy
sketches of ideas you might use.
• You may also look at novels that are
inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

Superintendent’s Visual Arts Exhibit
• Deadline for entries January 16, 2017.
• 5 students each from DJHS, CJHS, and EHS
may submit work.
• Winning entries will be displayed in the
Alabama State Capitol.
• Work must be original and unique (i.e.: I can’t
accept multiple entries from the same
assignment.)
Warm Up: Day 2
• Write the following definitions on the bottom
half of your notes page:
• 1. Thumbnails—In art, small practice sketches
that help the artist plan out a project.
• 2. Illustration—Art that refers to a written
work.
• 3. Abstract—Type of art that doesn’t try to
look like anything from the real world.
Today’s Goal
• You should have a quote from Alice in
Wonderland or a related work.
• Today, you will begin your artwork.
• Let me know if you need something not
at your station.
• Try to make your quote and image work
together. For example—you can use a
quote to frame your drawing.
Wrap Up
• You will not be here Friday, so our
finished art is due tomorrow!
• Trash—Make a lap around the table and
make sure it is clean!
• Supplies—Put away drawing tools.
• Papers—If anyone wants to leave their
drawing here, take it up and put it on the
rack.
Day 3: Warm Up
• In the upper right column of your notes,
write “Salvador Dali (1904-1989).”
• Write the following statements:

• No notes today!
• Today, we will continue our Alice in
Wonderland illustrations featuring text and
design.
• When you finish, submit your work to Google
Classroom.
• Tomorrow will be a wrap up day!

your assignments are submitted… If you
don’t click the blue “TURN IN” button, I
won’t be able to see your work!
