 The Midwest region is north of the southeast and
southwest regions and South of Canada.

live in this
Region or large city?
 Because the 3 most populated states have some
major cities like Chicago, Columbus and Detroit
have many places to live, eat, work. Most people
like that type of life style, but others may not and
want to be by the nice mountain views, in South
Dakota.

Catholic. 14% of the people in Ohio, Indiana,
and Michigan, 22% in Missouri and 5% in
Minnesota
Baptists. 22-24% of people in Wisconsin and
Minnesota are
Lutherans. 1% or less of the people in the Midwest
are
Jewish and Muslim, with slightly more in the major
cities


The temperature in the Midwest states can range
from -40 degrees F. in Dakotas & Minnesota to 120
degrees F. in Southern Missouri.
The rainfall in the Midwest can very as much as 50
in. in Northwestern Missouri to 13 in. in Western
North Dakota.
In the fall it is cool, In the Winter it is cold and there
is snow, In the Spring there is rain and the weather
is cool/warm, in the summer it is hot and sunny.


What effect does climate have on settlement patterns
in the region
 I think it has a lot to do with the climate change,
because some people would rather live in warmer
states or regions while others don’t care. The
people that do live in the Midwest region have to
bundle up for the cold winters, unlike the western
region.

 Agriculture, because many people have
farms and if some people don’t get
business then they don’t have any
money for food and supplies.

of the region?
 I think it has a lot to do with the climate
change, because some people would
rather live in warmer states or regions
while others don’t care. The people that
do live in the Midwest region have to
bundle up for the cold winters, unlike the
western region.
How has pollution affected the lives of the
people in the region?

There was a bad Sewage drainage into
Lake Michigan, which caused many fish
and wild life to die and attracted a very
dreadful fish.

region Also people like living in the city vs. the
country so, it all depends where you want to live.

Goods and services are transported be
plane, truck, train, boat, car, and many more.
 Boat: If it is transported by boat people mostly
trade on the Great Lakes of the Mississippi River.
 Plane: If it is transported by plane some of the
main airports they might come into is the O’Hair
airport, Detroit airport, and the Milwaukee
airport and the Columbus airport.
 Truck or Car: Highways, I90, I94,
 Train: Capitol Limited and Cardinal/Hoosier

Are there any interesting traditions or
customs present in region?

In the Midwest we call soda, soda, but in
the southeast they call it pop. Known as
the nations “bread basket” because
unlike many regions it has a lot of crops
such as wheat, oats, and corn.
What might happen if one or more of the major
transportation routes within the region were
interrupted?

I think that if a route was interrupted it could be
bad, because if a plane trip got dialed, or if a train
broke down how would the goods, services and
many people get to where they need to go.

U.S. economy benefits from the rapidly expanding
