The school we’d like
We were given a budget of £5,000 to change our
school in a way that is beneficial to everyone. If
we won the national competition, we would get a
real £5,000 to change our school. Go YELLOWS!
Tour around the school
• We took a tour around the school to inspire us
and fill us with ideas.
• Yellow group came up with 6 ideas. These are
our original 6 ideas:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Running Powered Electricity
Performing Arts room
Improve the library
Worry Website
Climbing Wall
Music Network
Pros and Cons
• We next had to thin our ideas. (Meaning we had to
delete some of the harder ones)
• We were then left with 3 of our best ideas which
would be beneficial to everybody.
• The 3 ideas were:
• Music Room Renovation
• Worry Website
• Improve the Library
Survey
• We were given homework. We had to see what our
Parents thought of our ideas.
• Improve the library was voted the best idea but we
ruled it out due to the logic that it was used before
and didn’t win.
• Yellow group split into 2 groups and went around
the school asking teachers for their opinion. We still
included the library in the survey.
• The library idea and the worry website got the most
votes.
• We had to decide on an idea and after many
different ways to decide, we decided on….
The Final Idea!
• We decided to renovate the music room, into a
performing arts room.
• We’re planning to add effect machines and
coloured lights and maybe even recording
equipment.
• We’re also looking at comfortable, stylish furniture
and handy storage.
• We also want to get it painted in sophisticated
colours and fit a dancing floor if possible!
We’re keeping back some
money for future buying,
because when you’re under
pressure you can’t think of
anything so it’s our no. 1 plan.

Pros vs Cons
• Pros
•
•
•
•
•
Develops musical taste and
abilities
It gives children an inspiring
environment to learn in.
Concerts and performances
would be enhanced.
Teachers will be fighting over
the Performing Arts Studio and
who can use it first.
It will convince the whole
school to start making some
music.
• Cons
•
•
•
•
Not everyone is going to
appreciate a performing arts
studio.
Getting used to the modern
music room may distract some
people.
‘Just so’ people may argue
that it is ruining their
performance.
The performing arts room will
have delicate equipment.

Getting used to the modern
music room may distract some
people.
Maybe, but the modern music
room will inspire more
interesting musical projects, so
excited children can forget
about the new scenario.
•
•
Not everyone is going to
appreciate a performing arts
studio
Although that may be the
case, the majority of people in
LJS either perform in plays or
play instruments. People do
have their own opinions and
they don’t have to use it in any
extra curricular activities if they
don’t want to.
Solutions Slide 2

•
The performing arts room will
include delicate equipment
Yes, it may get broken in some
places but the equipment will
be stored away safely and plus
everything gets broken
sometimes and you are meant
to appreciate everyday of the
modern music room as it
comes.
•
•
‘Just so’ people may argue
that the performing arts room is
ruining their performance.
In some opinions that is the
case but generally it’s not
about the background it’s
about your work and the
playwright’s words and nothing
else.

IDEAS!
We’re planning to get some
recording equipment, including
voice changing equipment. One
of our best ideas is to buy effect
machines (smoke machines,
bubble machines and snow
machines.) Fairy lights and stage
lights will give every performance
concert or simple lesson a
scenario to be proud of. It’s also
come to our attention that we
need new instruments and we
need stands so that instruments
aren’t just thrown on the floor
hastily. We’re also planning to
paint the room in tropical, vibrant
colours in splat form. It’s definitely
struck us that there isn’t much
efficient storage that meets up to
how we should keep our
instruments.

The music room of the
future!!!
A formal letter of persuasion
Dear Mr Burford,
I am writing to explain why modernising the music room in to a music studio is the most inspiring idea of
all. It is a fantastic way of helping children develop their musical tastes and abilities and it will be an
commendable way to improve the school. It will inspire every child in Liss to start their arts.
Said studio will be modern and fizzing with inspiration. We are hoping to paint it in sophisticated
monochrome colours with the exception of one wall which will be painted in vibrant coloured splats (the
whole spectrum of wonderful colours) and finished off with a host of swirling scales and music notes. New
curtains would be put in place and a stylish white desk for the teachers to use during lessons a ultimate must
have is a simple yet sophisticated black chair to add to the effect. One of our most brilliant ideas is to set the
scene with realistic effect machines and atmospheric light shows., which will really enhance our Christmas
performances.
As a exceptional head teacher you will know how much more stupendous our already fine school would be
with such an amazing addition. We understand that our idea is not flawless but we are willing to take the
riskiest of risks to provide this school with an educational yet entertaining performing arts studio. We know
our idea through and through and we are sure nothing would improve the school further than such a
formidable addition.
We are most grateful that you have listened to our request. You must remember that even the smallest
thought this idea becoming a reality will be enough to convince us that our idea is flawless. We do hope you
feel as strongly about our idea as we do because we think it will an inspiration to pupils of this school for
generations to come.
Yours sincerely
Yellow team

Who does it benefit?
Pupils- It helps them by giving them stable musical knowledge and it develops
their taste and abilities.
Teachers- It helps them by teaching the students, enrolled in their school, different
kinds of music.
Parents- It helps them to know that they are being taught everything in the
curriculum properly.
Governors- It gives them confidence that pupils in the school they govern are
being taught correctly.
So the answer is……
Thank you for
listening
