This exemplar starts securely with some confident and convincing part writing,
however this coherence and clarity is not maintained. By around bar 15 the musical
logic disintegrates and the rest of the piece lacks the required effectiveness and
cohesion for a secure Achievement. There is musical promise here with an effective
degree of skill demonstrated in the opening of the piece and a second piece could
well support an overall Achievement. The notation would need to be further
enhanced with an initial tempo marking, correct notation of rests, and more
performance indications. There are also some notational and idiomatic errors at the
end where the clarinet is asked to play two notes and empty bars are not deleted.
