SUBJECT LEVELS
• PLEASE HEED THE ADVICE OF TEACHERS (SCHOOL REPORTS, NOTES HOME & PARENT
TEACHER MEETINGS) RE THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF STUDY FOR THE STUDENT.
• WE ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO TAKE HL WHERE POSSIBLE AS IT PROVIDES A GOOD BASIS
FOR LC. HOWEVER, IN CERTAIN CASES, CARRYING A SUBJECT AT TOO HIGH A LEVEL CAN
NEGATIVELY IMPACT ON OTHER SUBJECTS AND ULTIMATELY LEAD TO A CRASH OF
CONFIDENCE IN THE STUDENT.
• PLACE YOUR EYE ON THE BIGGER, LONG TERM PICTURE, SUCH AS WHAT SUBJECTS THE
STUDENT WILL TAKE AT LEAVING CERTIFICATE.
• BE PREPARED AT PTM TO ASK THE TEACHER IF THE STUDENT CAN HONESTLY SUCCEED AT
THEIR CURRENT LEVEL
