There are seven (7) basic elements of
music: Melody, Harmony, Rhythm, Tempo,
Dynamics, Form, and Timbre.

Today, we will be learning more about the
elements.
Learning Targets

I can define and give examples of
Dynamics.

I can define and give examples of Tempo.
Dynamics

Dynamics – The fullness of sound;
volume.

Activity

We will be listening to some musical
examples.

On a sheet of paper, you will be describing
the music we listen to in terms of the 7
elements we have discussed: melody,
timbre, dynamics, tempo, rhythm, form,
harmony.
Here’s what you do…



Divide your paper into 7 blocks or sections
for each example.
In each block, write one of the elements:
Melody, Timbre, Dynamics, Tempo, etc.
For the listening examples, describe these
elements in the appropriate box. You must
attempt to use musical terms we have used
in class.
