Reauthorization
Congress has extended program thru CY
2011 and 19.5 B transferred into Highway
Trust Fund.
This is another way of not touching the
tax issue but adding money to the Trust
fund by borrowing from the general
budget
AASHTO will continue to work with
Congress for sustaining revenue stream.
Reauthorization bill
Looking at possible 5 year bill, otherwise
extensions
Climate change bill would channel all but
2B of 19.5B raised to non-transportation
uses.
AASHTO & others working to protect trust
fund and any other money raised from
transportation
Items in the Authorization Bill?
Perform measurement & mgt almost certain to be in any
future authorization bill.
Some of those being talked about now are:

Freight
Project delivery
Collaborating very closely with FHWA, but Congress staff
is pushing well beyond what’s appears to be workable.
