Vision
The vision is that each student reach a level
of Independent Musicianship. Students attain this by:
Understanding the concepts of music (tone, intonation,
rhythm, melody, articulation)
• Dedicating themselves to individual skill development
(practice)
• Gradually becoming responsible for their own
learning, success, enjoyment and appreciation of
music
• Functioning interdependently and collaborating with
others
Private Lessons
• One of the cornerstones to the
success of the Thompson Junior High
Band is private lessons!
• Lesson instructors teach at
Thompson during the school day.
• Private lessons are NOT remedial
• New teachers will be added this year
• Private lesson list is on the band
website
Step Up Instruments
• Eventually, your student will outgrow the capabilities
of their instrument.
• A step-up instrument will allow them to play:
• With better tone
• More in tune
• With increased range
• More speed and flexibility
• More information is available on the band
website
