Using nouns to describe other nouns
In English, we use
nouns to describe other nouns
all the time:
English class
Science course
Art school
Music school
History teacher
French student
Christmas party
In Spanish, we put the describing
word behind the noun and
separate the two with “de” (of):
clase de inglés
curso de ciencia
escuela (colegio) de arte
escuela ( colegio) de música
profesor de historia
alumno de francés
fiesta de Navidad
Try to remember: Describers, whether they are adjectives or “de +
noun” go AFTER the nouns they modify or describe in Spanish!!!!
