Medial & lateral collateral ligaments
Active Range of Movement
• Flexion
• Extension
• Straight leg raise
Passive range of movement & end feel
• If the individual can perform full range of
movement, apply gentle pressure at the end
of range to determine end feel.
• Knee flexion – soft end feel
• Knee extension – tissue stretch
Resisted movements
• Resisted knee extension – sitting with legs
over edge of plinth
• Resisted knee flexion- Prone lying
Manual Muscle testing
• Flexors
• Extensors
Special Tests
• Swelling – Swipe test
• Stability test for the medial and lateral
collateral ligaments of the Knee
• Movements of the Hip joint and ankle
• Evaluation of gait
• Evaluation of balance/proprioception
Stress test for the Medial Collateral
ligament
