EXERCISE
Isometric Exercise occurs when your
muscles contract but produce no
movement. An example of this type of
exercise would be pressing against a wall.
Isotonic Exercise occurs when your
muscles contract to produce movement.
An example of this type of exercise would
be lifting weights.
MUSCLES
Muscle Fatigue occurs due to a lack of
oxygen in the muscle cells. This causes a
build up of lactic acid in the tissue. The
resulting oxygen deficiency can lead to
cramping and pain which will go away
when the exercise slows down.
Muscle Growth
Muscle Growth occurs due to an increase
in the size of the muscle cells, not to an
increase in the number of muscle cells.
Hypertrophy is the term given to an
increase in muscle mass.
Atrophy is the term given to a decrease in
muscle mass.
