 The adult human body has
206 bones, but a baby’s
body has about 300 bones.
Why is there such a
difference? What happens
to these bones as you grow
up?
 Bones rely on the muscles
and joints to move. How do
they all work together?
MUSCULAR SYSTEM
Three Dif ferent Muscle Types
 Skeletal muscle
 Cardiac or Heart muscle
 Smooth muscle
Muscles provide strength, balance, posture, movement
and heat for the body to keep warm.
What are the largest muscles in the body?
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
The break-down
of FOOD!!!
If not for the
digestive
system… we
wouldn’t be able
to enjoy all the
delicious
HEALTHY meals
we eat
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
 The system responsible
for how we receive
oxygen into our bodies!
 All mammals have a
respiratory system…
even dolphins!
What are some common
medical issues associated
with the respiratory
system?
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Passes nutrients, gases, hormones, and
blood cells throughout the body.
Helps fight disease
Controls body temperature/PH
Maintains homeostasis! <--- HUH?
What is the main organ in the circulatory
system?
NERVOUS SYSTEM
If the body had a Main
Office, the brain would
be it!
Controls all of the
actions and functions
of our body.
