SKELETAL SYSTEM
The adult human body has
206 bones, but a baby’s
body has about 300 bones.
Why is there such a
difference? What happens
to these bones as you grow
up?
Bones rely on the muscles
and joints to move. How do
they all work together?
MUSCULAR SYSTEM
Three Dif ferent Muscle Types
Skeletal muscle
Cardiac or Heart muscle
Smooth muscle
Muscles provide strength, balance, posture, movement
and heat for the body to keep warm.
What are the largest muscles in the body?
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
The break-down
of FOOD!!!
If not for the
digestive
system… we
wouldn’t be able
to enjoy all the
delicious
HEALTHY meals
we eat
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
The system responsible
for how we receive
oxygen into our bodies!
All mammals have a
respiratory system…
even dolphins!
What are some common
medical issues associated
with the respiratory
system?
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Passes nutrients, gases, hormones, and
blood cells throughout the body.
Helps fight disease
Controls body temperature/PH
Maintains homeostasis! <--- HUH?
What is the main organ in the circulatory
system?
NERVOUS SYSTEM
If the body had a Main
Office, the brain would
be it!
Controls all of the
actions and functions
of our body.
